all packed and ready to fly!

Since end of June I have been lugging all my sewing and drawing materials from home to school, work and back home 4 sometimes 5 days a week (also riding and running after the very inconvenient public bus)...and have lost about 2 inches around my waist since. Everyday is stressful and always filled with dreadful fractions to the 32nd for measurements, cutting, sewing, seam ripping, hands turning into Smurf hands from carbon tracing paper, getting poked by pins at least 20 times in the 4 and a half hours class period(argh...)drawing nude Alice or Patrick in figure drawing for 3 and a half hours over and over day to day--it doesn't even faze me anymore. But all the work and stress will soon come to end this coming 30th of July!!!

After my pattern-making exam I am off to San Francisco for a weekend getaway to visit my best friend Abby! Also I am meeting my boyfriend Greg there that night who is flying from Minneapolis--whom BTW I have not seen for about a month! I am totally hoping for an awesome movie airport scene for our reunion (HAHA!) perhaps like the O'Hare scene with Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney from MBW-except of course I GET THE GUY ^_^ teehee!

Anyway, I am sooo busy for the next 3 days and will not even have time to pack so I did tonight.

I always over-pack and since I am not checking anything to avoid extra charges and fear or losing my luggage, I had to keep my packing to a freaking minimum...I don't know how I did it but I did. So San Fran here I come!

info from ACTUAL REALITY PICTURES
Premiered: January 16th, 2009
U.S. Theatrical Release:
August 28th, 2009
The September 2007 issue of Vogue magazine weighed nearly five pounds, and was the single largest issue of a magazine ever published. With unprecedented access, The September Issue, directed and produced by R.J. Cutler, tells the story of legendary Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and her larger-than-life team of editors creating the issue and ruling the world of fashion.

The September Issue won the Grand Jury Prize for Excellence in Cinematography at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

From the 2009 Sundance Film Festival Official Catalog

Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue for 20 years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Larger than life and more complex than fiction, Wintour embodies a fascinating contradiction of passion and perfectionism as she reigns over a dizzying array of designers, models, photographers, and editors.

Director R.J. Cutler delivers a rare insider account of the nine months leading up to the printing of the highly anticipated September issue of the magazine, which promises to be the biggest one ever. He takes us behind the scenes at fashion week, to Europe and back, on shoots and reshoots, and into closed- door staff meetings, bearing witness to an arduous and sometimes emotionally demanding process.

At the eye of this annual fashion hurricane is the two-decade relationship between Wintour and Grace Coddington, incomparable creative director and genius stylist. They are perfectly matched for this age-old conflict between creator and curator. Through them, we see close up the delicate creative chemistry it takes to remain at the top of the ever-changing fashion field.

Cutler cleverly deconstructs the creative process as it plays out in the hallowed halls of Vogue, lined with racks of couture. In The September Issue, his access and insight are impressive and make us aware that he is offering us a privileged glimpse into a world many dream about but few see.

How did I only find this now?!?

There was a Barbie anniversary fashion show held at the Mercedes fashion week back in spring where many well-known designers fabulously contributed to the affair. There are seriously so many which will be mentioned in the video below. But the best part are the shoes the models are wearing...they are all wearing the same custom made hot-pink Barbie colored open-toed heels designed by Christian Louboutin!!! That's probably more than the usual price of $600!!!

Watch the actual video for the fashion show but just to warn you there is a long and annoying intro in the beginning of Barbie montage...jeez. But again the fashion show itself is FANTABULOUS!!!

...John Galliano just made Christian Dior proud once again. 89

Christian Dior Haute Couture 2009/2010

I love the fact that Galliano went way back to what made the fashion name Christian Dior for inspiration for his new fall collection...AHHHH LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!

But that is some crazy model walk though...

Galliano inspirations:

Bar suit from the New Look collection, 1947; Sales assistants on the day of the store opening;Y Line dress, autumn/winter 1955-56 (photos from http://www.designmuseum.org/design/christian-dior)

I MUST HAVE THIS to add to my coffee table book collection...

The Sartorialist Book by Scott Schuman

"For US$16.50, now you too can pre-order Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist's new self-titled book to be released on August 12, 2009.

Scott Schuman just wanted to take photographs of people on the street who looked great. His now famous blog ('the bellwether American site that turned photo blogging into an art form' - "New York Times") was an attempt to showcase the wonderful and varied sartorial tastes of real people - not only those of the fashion industry. The book is a beautiful anthology of Scott's favourite shots from around the world. They include photographs of well-known fashion figures as well as those shots of the anonymous passerby whose imagination and taste delight the viewer. From the streets of Rio to Bejing, Stockholm to Milan, these are the people that have inspired Scott and in turn, inspired designers and people of all ages, wages and nationalities with an interest in fashion. Intimately designed and created with Scott, the book is a handsome object in its own right, in full colour on hand-picked, quality paper."
